homecoming was a wonderful book by cynthia voight that was made into a television movie with Anne Bancroft as the grandmother to four children abandoned by their mother when she loses her sanity..
the children had never heard of their grandmother..but go walking a great distance to find her and HOME. ***** i loved it and the book is on a college reading list for young people ages 12-16
